Saying genetics do not play a part in athletic performance is ignorant. And don't confuse a generalization with a statement of absolute. To say african americans are black is a generalization. Not all are black. To say Jewish people don't eat pork is a generalization, but I know several that do eat it. Whether race is a genetic advantage, a social/enviromental advantage, or both for sport is not hateful or degrading and may even be true!

gentics could be true cose bak in the day black people were like shaka zulu, an had to run from lions, cheaters or elephants. so maybe they needed the extra fast twitch to get to safety quickly

genetics does play a part in becoming elite, but that doesn't mean people who are not naturally born can't become elite. It's just that, those who aren't naturally born have to work a lot harder while those who are naturally born have a head start, if you get what I mean... It's all about hard work and dedication.

Christophe Lemaitre and Ramil Guliyev will kill the stereotype of the slow white sprinter. Next two years will be very interesting in the 100 and 200 meters.

Well, in running genetics DOES have a part. Blacks aren't known for their golfing because it doesn't take physical genetic talent, like running. Its not a rule that a certain people are better, but many times for general purposes they are. Training and desire and that is a large part but no matter how hard you want it, not everyone can be an elite runner.

Racial stereotypes are a crutch. The thing with sports is that whoever wants to succeed the most and has the drive to do so, will succeed. Manny Paquiao is a great boxer... are Pacific Islanders known for their boxing skills? Tiger Woods is a great golfer... are blacks known for their golfing skills? Just take a look at the American olympic basketball team and the teams they have lost to... whoever wants it bad enough gets it.

If you do try to google information about black people supposedly being better athletes, you won't find any LEGITIMATE claims (unless you're the type that believe any old news on any random messageboard). Oh yeah, I'm black I've been swimming since I was 4 years old (forced to learn, I guess my parents saw the future filled with "black people can't swim" beliefs running rampant) and I'm a slow runner (hate running)...hmm. Like I said, stereotypes.
