Cylcing if your really into it, can use every part of your body, your abs, your shoulders your triceps, when your going up hill you have to give it all you have, and sometimes that means pulling on the handlebars, which btw uses your upperbody. To do any sport, you need to be fit in very part of your body. Look at Lance ins his prime, he was strong in all the areas of his body not just his legs, he had great upper body strength.
