The only problem with it is the fact it's too short.

I love how this piece is about a tree, and the opera as a whole is actually considered one of Handel's worst. Slightly bizarre considering the beauty of this short little aria.Scholl is... Scholl! What more can be said?BTW for those who don't know, this piece was written for a castrato back in the day.

George Frederic Handel, 282 years ago he composed amazing songs like this, he never imagine about YouTube or DVD, but his work trespassing the time in a haunting melody. He did a perfect job.

@JCandido TVDir ist schon klar, dass Händel selbst diese Arie für einen Kastraten geschrieben hat?

Wow. I never experienced a man singing that high. It is beautifully sung. Sehr schön! Ich glaube, Herr Scholl hat gerade mit mir einen neuen Fan bekommen.

No, he is for real! ;) You can find live recordings, newer ones though, I guess Andreas Scholl was younger in this recording; he doesnt go quite that high now adays, but is still the clearest, most powerful counter-tenor in the world - as I hear it ;D

Honestly, I much prefer this song when a tenor sings it. The song just sounds more meaningful with a tenor voice.

The beggining of the music looks like BWV 1043 double violon 2nd mouvement.

Andreas rules! I am a countertenor myself and this is so much more difficult than it appears...But he does not only have great technique, but also great feeling. Wow!

I love the version with Fritz Wunderlich. Completely different but maybe even more beautyful...
