Talk about an underapreciated band. In a perfect world Guided by Voices would be as famous as U2. And this is just one of a million great songs...

Cont. and believe in the horrible good book. I have read the entire bible and it is trash of the worst kind. but most people just laugh or do not care. ONLY ATHEISTS AND AGNOSTICS AND MOST SCIENTISTS ARE RATIONAL THINKERS WHEN IT COMES TO god and reality.

my tent is so big i can't put it all in one small space i love Neil Y. and Buffalo Springfield. everything by VU. saw the Replacements at UVA in 1982. Bowie, Television, Ball, Iggy Pop, Pretenders, Aretha Franklin in B'more...Gun Club, Mud Honey, Helios Creed, Dirty 3, Jesus Lizard, the Cows, the Unsane, Helmet... Husker Du, Butthole Surfurs...all bands i saw live. i guess you love the hate mail you get, but i love people who understand that it's not a contest, it's a discourse.

11xz- sorry about the small tent...no slight was intended toward all those bands you mentioned, all are great, esp. neil, 'mats, bowie and velvets. and tho i like floyd, rush and sabbath, (nostalgia is one reason) i can understand why you don't. "skilled" playing does not always mean great.

kids: indie rock is a big tent: pavement!the silver jews, sonic youth, the melvins, helmet, dinosaur jr., sebadoh, the fall and on and on...i only said that GBV is the best band ever was that i was in that mood...but sometimes it's stevie wonder, and sometimes it's AC/DC and sometimes it's Metallica...all is good, except Brittany Speers, Christina Whatsherface, and the like. we can all get along!

Black Sabbath does not 'straight up suck', they influenced heavy metal exponentially just like the other classic rock bands that you're foolishly berating. Like someone else said, you're very confused.
