I would love to see you do a segment on the beautiful and just as remote Ozark Mountains of rural Missouri. The majesty and beauty of the ozarks is a wonder to behole.

Hey Dan - why don't you remove some of the senseless garbage people have found necessary to add to this comment section? Spoils the reading of comments to keep tripping over nonsense.

GSMNP, take from the people and give it to the privileged. Same as the Soviet Union used to do while proclaiming that they were doing "whatever" for the good of the people. There are too many examples to name where the NPS has sought to remove our freedom of using the park. Shame on you NPS.

Thanks for creating and posting this interesting history. As a boy, I frequented the cabins of Elkmont as a guest of the Tate family. The land there is a truly a special place, and it is sad to see it claimed by the intentional neglect of the park service.

Thanks avanzatotrxxI think you are right about the working folk. It is a part of history that is often left out of the books in any real meaningful way.

It should be saved as part of it's heritage. A majority of the worlds working people would rather see where the workers lived.
