I honestly enjoyed this original version more than No Reservations. The fact they had Abigail Breslin in it ruined it (she's too overused). I liked the idea that the little girl was more in the story in Bella Martha (her trying to find her father). Martina was a more developed than Zeta-Jones.

"German pedanticism"?- Was für ein Blödsinn! Seltsamerweise sind alle außländischen Besucher mit wer weiß was für lächerlichen Klischees und Vorstellungen in ihren Köpfen nach ihrem ersten Deutschlandaufenthalt ziemlich ernüchtert.

There was a book I had read that described the requirement of all employees of a particular German restaurant to take a course on the "theory of serving". That made me think of this film. It is not intended as a slur. To be thorough and comprehensive in matters both intellectual and practical is a good thing.Sometimes it may be taken to extremes; in this case, it is comical.

Fantastic scene, thanks. One question, though--what is pendanticism? Is it a term you coined? Or do you mean pedanticism?

One of my favourite German films and this is one of my favourite scenes from that film. I do hope this new American version of "Bella/Mostly Martha" will be as good.
