being backwards doesnt necessarily change the tone of it. the pickup is not only put in backwards, but the magnet was flipped around. the middle position is out of phase or reversed polarity when both pickups are on at the same time. did it to a few of my guitars, at first i just flipped the pickup, then i read about the magnet. so i took the pickup apart and put the magnet in backwards. frankly, the middle position is very thin and nasaly like this guitar. I put it back after about a month.

Sorry not true - this guitar used to belong to Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac and he had the pickup reversed (look at Youtube clips of Fleetwood Mac doing 'Oh Well'), Gary Moore acquired it and left it - well you would!!

Yep, that's a trademark of Gary. When he started out first, he sent a guitar in for repairs, and the repair guy fucked it up and put the neck pickup in backwards without noticing.When Gary got it back, he seen it, but decided to try the sound out, anyway. Needless to say, he loved the tone, and now has the same mistake put into all of his guitars.
