There is plenty of oil in the US, but due to legal issues involving land, oil companies find it easier to extract their goods from elsewhere. I wasn't suggesting oil companies NEEDED an excuse, but when the idea of "running out of oil" is suggested to the sheeple of america, their rabble from increased prices will be numbed. And don't for one minute think that just because corporations are rich, that they are up to date (or will act on)the latest knowledge, tech, or innovations.

And the scientists you are talking about mostly have a theory. It has yet to be translated into reality. As for the oil companies wanting an "excuse" to jack up oil prices. They don't need one. We are dependent on oil. They can name their price and we will pay it, for it is the lifeblood of our economy. As to whether or not these Swedish scientists' theory will be followed up on and save us from our huge energy needs... time will tell.

If oil isn't running out why would ridiculously hard extraction sites exist? Canada's oil sands are a good example. It takes a bunch of natural gas and 220 gallons of freshwater to produce one barrel of oil. And yet the largest oil companies in the world are investing in the oil sands. Even though the cost is way higher than traditional oil drilling and the return not nearly as much. Are the oil sands just a head fake to make us think that we are at a peak?

@NoResign I heard two songs. The one at the beginning is Moby - Extreme Ways. The one toward the end is Sheryl Crow - Soak Up the Sun.

And it is all about us and me, me, me human. We don't need alt.energy because we are egomaniacal destroyers only caring about us and me, me, me.No need to see this movie. The biggest problem is not in the water, air or earth, it is between our ears.

MortalOnlineBeta: Myth or not about oil reserves running out . WE. Our nation does not have control of OIL supplies. Thats why we must turn to alternative fuels and energy. Cleaner Energy and National Security?? Have you seen the film? They do talk about "the cutting of the trees". Alternative fuels wont make a difference for our planet? (or our nation) What?? You MUST be smoking lots of that Industrial Marijuana paper. LOL I will leave it at that. =o)

Great film! Just saw it tonight. Must see it! Awesome work Mr. Tickell! I totally recommend seeing this film if you have not spent the last few years on renewable energy. Gives you a clear sample of what has happened in the several decades in under two hours to learn enough.

agreed, but what needs to stop is the cutting down of trees, I dont think they mentioned that in this video. Industrial Marijuana is a far superior source for paper and hundreds of other products, and while finding an alternative fuel isn't too bad, its still not going to make any difference for our planet compared to the cutting down of trees.

fossil fuel or not, it doesn't change how toxic petroleum byproducts are

The problem with american society is the the false idea that "fossil fuels" are fossil fuels. Sweden and Russian scientists have known that oil is primarily produced in the upper mantle without organic matter. Oil is unlimited, and the claim that "we are running out" is completely false, its just an excuse for the rich oil companies to jack up the price. The only reason I would get an electric car, is, just Larry David said, I dont like bothering to go to the gas station.

I've seen this movie and was blown away.As a user of bio-diesel for the past 4 years, I thought I had a grasp of the issues surrounding bio-fuels, renewable resources and the oil company stranglehold on our nation's economy. This movie really opened my eyes to the bigger picture.Quite entertaining and informative, beautifully shot and directed, "FUEL" is a winner all around! Many Kudos to you, Mr. Tickell and your whole team.-DutchAnother Way Films

quite skeptical - i'll need to watch the entire movie. after seeing the peak oil documentaries and reading James Howard Kunstler, the feel-good alternatives shown in Fuel don't seem entirely plausible...
