So you too are blessed with that very special album. Mine is an LP, in storage for about 10 years, and I miss this song dearly. Not available anywhere. I cried my eyes out hearing it again. Livin for the City on Renaissance is another favorite - even better than Stevie. But both of them together in concert blows everything away! (8-track? Man that brings back memories!)

This is one of my all time favorite songs by Ray Charles. I have only heard it on my Renaissance LP, never saw him perform it. Thank you for posting this magnificent performance. Excellent sound too. This was posted, coincidentally, on the day of my mother's death. Means a lot. Thank you.

Picture this. Black kid. Soul Music, Back of the Seville going across country to Arkansas or Lousiana on family reunion trips or to visit grandparents.... This song, I loved it. From the Renaissance 8 Track (see that goes way back). Im talkin 70s. Well I dont know when it was, but I knew every note. Funny thing is all these years later, I finally got the music off of Itunes, and this version is the one I remember because I saw that concert on TV and taped it.

This is a Charles Aznavour compisition in French, which Ray Charles adopted, and is performing so beautifully. When Aznavour wanted to write the unconventional lyrics, his handlers told him he could not succeed, but the record sold millions. If you search for Aznavour and La Mamma, on youtube, you'll find some performances. Thank you Ray Charles. Thank you Aznavour.

Believe me it's a wonderful song. I am french, I know the song by Charles Aznavour, but this version let me think about my mama, and the emotion is a one that I never ever felt before.
