He won the heisman trophy and carried a team that wasn't very good. You make it sound so easy to avoid the rush and throw a football 65 yards. Yeah he sucks

I wish people would quite talking about this freaking play.Especially in reguards to Flutie.Even the announcer says.."Flutie did it,Flutie did it!"..Flutie didn't do crap.He knew about where his receivers were.Saw a pack of ppl and threw it in the midst of them.If anyone deserves credit, its the guy who caugght the ball and had the focus to look it in..GEEZ,Flutie sucks.

Chill dude. they were excited, and that was a hell of a throw and catch even though it's not very strategic.

perhaps ur right that this play wasnt that amazing in itself. but when u consider the context of the game: flutie had thrown for 400 yards, it was between 2 nationally ranked teams, and it was the only football game on that day meaning that it had a national audience you can see why it really stands out in peoples minds

unek1der, what are you talking about? There are plenty of great college football players who don't have the size, or a specialty skill, to play at the top of the NFL. We know about his avg. NFL experience...what I'm saying is that he was a VERY good athlete, who could see the field as good as anyone I've ever seen play QB, and he was very allusive....how can you call someone who one the Heisman, who beat teams like Bama and Penn State, and who won 6 MVP's in the CFL, "not a very good athlete"?

Remember when Flutie nailed that punt with the Patriots or kick or whatever and the media fawned over it lolHe was a decent QB. He was a little overrated because of this feat seen here but he was still a good QB.

Tom,Hail mary is NOT a big strategy in the NFL. Doug Flutie is getting waaay too much attention for this play. If u're gonna rate last min touch down.... I would say the TD scored by Trinity University would easily beat this one.It is sad to see that Doug get more attention than Jim Kelly of the Buffalo Bills. Jim Kelly is an under-rated QB. He led the Bills to 8 playoff and 4 consecutive Super Bowl. And yet, we see Doug Flutie on ESPN every weekend. OVER-RATED!!

sorry, Flutie was named Canadian Football's most understanding player 6 times....yeh, he wasn't a very good athlete. So many Jokesters write crap on here and they have ZERO idea what they're talking about.

For you jokesters who don't think Flutie was a great athlete, you might want to ask the Alabama, Miami, and Penn State teams he beat, nevermind the 4 MVP's he got in the Canadian football league. He wasn't a prototype NFL qb,and back then, not many teams would develop an offensive strategy for his style...FYI, #65, who's arms Flutie leaped into, was my college roommate. Steve Trapilo, who played 5 years in the NFL. He passed away, tragically, in 2004.
