I guess these guys are trying to make a folding retractable wing. This would be good if you lived in everglades ore whatnot..good for them.

meh such an aircraft can be easily made without the only market being bill gates because of the cost, its yet to be made because such an aircraft is unwanted because VTOL takes the fun out of take of and landing, and the military has harriers and f-35's so they don't wan't it either.

i've yet to see a single VTOL SRA, please point one out to me, its an incredible sra as far as i'm conserned.

a cessna 185 amphib?its cheaper and can be used for more purposes, and why would 20KG of cargo matter? if they all have breakfast thats only 15Kg cargo.

I would like to see an amphibious 4 seater with retracts and automatic wingfold ICON A5 but with a cessna engine or something and have 4 big guys in it, full fuel and still be able to carry at least 5kg luggage each, maybe a much larger engine, possibly constant speed prop engine.

This aircraft is basically a slick, modern reincarnation of the old Republic Sea Bee.I think it will be highly successful.

that is d whole point of d exercise, to be able to create an affordable HARSH, think in terms of collapsible rotors and retractable wings (not the bulky stuff of d terrafugia, i mean something more compact), building a jet thruster into an everyday harsh i accept might be too expensive unless a more affordable means is found of inculcating it into the design, but in all, i dont think its impossible

Mhmm, and where exactly would somone find such a amazing aircraft, not to mention would it be able to beat the ICON's $140,000 price tag? Last I checked the only planes like that exist in flight simulations, not even the military has planes like that. To make one would easily reach into the 9 digit price range which would make it too difficult to sell for it to be profitable. Heck you can go on vacation in space for 7 digits.

it sounds really cool, but as a sport reacreational aircraft (sra) it is useless if it is incapable of vertical take-off and landing. An amphibius sra with hovering and vertical capabilities will not be a bad idea in short, a hybridised amphibius recreational sports helioplane (HARSH)

Hang in there... stay in school, work hard, you'll get there. I got my private land/sea + instrument in my mid-20s while all my friends were blowing $ on cars that got old a lot faster than my ratings. Stay on track and your time will come!

Is it just me that thinks it looks like a mix between sports boat/waterskii with nailed on wings and a propeller? :P looks cool indeed, just kinda came to think of it.
