All this reinforces the point made by the MSF that most crashes involve a number of causes. There is no "primary" cause. Feel terrible for the motorcyclist, but he undoubtedly shares the blame with the drunk driver.

not saying the rider is a saint...but the driver of the car should have been shot on site the bastard didnt learn the first two times while drinking and driving but hey third times the charm right with our legal system he will be out in no time and drink and drive for the fourth time and maybe the next time he will hit a van instead with a family of four killing them all.

People who choose to defend drunk drivers or favor them are stupid. Almost every driver knows the law except for idiots. Before you drank your second bottle or took your next shot, you knew you brought your vehicle with you. You knew the effects of alcohol on the body. You knew how much poison you can take. And yet, you still chose to drink more. You knew everything but when it was time to decide, you didn't know anything at all. That is beyond control - beyond stupidity can ever define. Idiots.

Irregardless of whether you're popping a wheelie or driving your bike like a granny, no one is safe from drunk or neglectful drivers. Even if you're on the right or wrong lane, people who are intoxicated or just not paying attention will bump into you. And what can bikers do whose bodies are exposed to harm immediately against a car where it's basically a body's entire helmet? Who will you blame? Ignorance is indeed bliss. I drive a motorcycle, a car, and a truck. What I don't drive? Drunk.
