You Greeks are such a bunch of losers. Spain always beats you and this hurts you. But you should learn to play instead of weeping like kids. I remind you that Greece, both as a national team or local clubs, is worldwide known because of two issues: the brutal behavior of their crowds and their friendship with the reefs. What makes a team, and a coach, great is the ability to make the most of its strengths and show the least its weaknesses. This is what traditionally great teams and coaches have been doing and this is what Greece has been doing. In this semi-final Greece was clearly a better team and should have progressed, every objective person admits it. Whether Greece would have beaten the Russians in the final? Keep also in mind that Spain had rest for two full days whilst Greece had rest for a mere 16 hours... This is additional evidence of the superiority of the Greek team, at least in that match. This eurobasket clearly showed that Greece is one of the very best teams in Europe. And clearly showed that the Spaniards have no honour (really as shame for them...)

Erixthonie, the match with Spain went "to the point" (ston ponto) in their home ground and with referees whistling for Spain. Hence, it was a clear win for Greece, who should have played in the final. A team (Greece) that did not play their best in a tournament but they would have played to the final beating the hosts in their home ground (bar the referees) is clearly better than a team (Spain) who resorted to theatrics to get technical fouls in their home ground.

I am Greek and I have to admit that Spain is clearly better than us or than any team in Europe.They have amazing quality and a stunning roster.Greece was terrible in this tournament because we were missing two of our key players,Fotsis and Schortsianitis.This shows how fragile the Greek team is,no matter how courageous and persistentBut I am glad that Russia won the gold,because the Spaniards were acting too arrogant

You are absolutely right.We Greeks also suffer from the same disease.We are a nation of easy-going,clever people(like you,spaniards),but because of our geo-political status and all the wars of the past 100 years,we are also have some complexes.We are lost somewhere between the glory ancient years,our poor economical situation ,the prison cells of religion and the fear of a changing future.

Quarterfinal with Germany was ridiculous, we had won in 3rd quarter already and instead of preserving force we wanted make them suffer cause we lost in 2005 (dont forget how we passed Croatia in 2005 also) Then in 2007 came ridiculous game against Greece where only us couldnt admit weplayed girly..During final, was nationalist hysteria, celebration fiestas already organised by the federation before the match and a bus with our players portraits ready to make the tour of the city!!!

Well,you say that you played crappy compared to japan but then what can some1 say about how greece played in this eurobasket compared to japan...Anyway pelekanos is a player with great physical skills (he can run,he can shoot 3pts he can steal balls,he can dunk).On the other hand he has not much experience of high level teams and competitions,he has played in medium clubs.I think that you took him for backup,not for the starting five of REAL Madrid.

Anayway, what kind of player is Pelekanos? We don't know him here and he hasn't play much in eurobasket. We get rid of Marko Thomas to sign Pelekanos, I hope we did not wrong.

roynut : If you saw Spain in Japan 2006 against Greece, Argentina and Lietuva you must agree that in this eurobasket our defense has been a joke compared with last year. Too much open shoots allowed to the oponents, no intensity.In offense we played without speed, statics, too much individualities, too much 3 point shoots. No team work.That's why I said we played crappy compared to Japan.

Noni:Spain played the best turnament of their life.They played in Spain.The referees were with them.They had the biggest motive(they have NEVER won the european championship!)They didn't play everyday like we and lithuanians did.And still their final position:2nd.Greece:We played crap.We didn't have Fotsis and Big Sofo.We played in Spain.The referees were not supporting us.We played 3 days in a row.Our final position,(after all those disadvantages) 4TH.
