well tbh, not everyone who is emo cuts, mabey they have the fasion, i mean, people call me emo, i dont think im emo, but i do cut, not the fact i wanna "fit in" but i feel asif its away to let things go, make me feel better, it doesnt then i do it more because i blame it on myself, but seriously everyone who says like "omg your emo coz you cut" NO! BAD!, no all emos cut, most people who arnt emo cut its a fact.

This is very insightful. I was never part of this emo culture.. but I used to cut myself from depression. Now I really wish I didn't have these scars on me!! Trust me..everyone who cuts themself will eventually come to regret it. Get help sooner than later!!

i think of emos as like wanting attention, i guess i really have nothing against it, but to me it makes no sence. i have depression, really bad, i do dress in dark cloths but that doesn't make me emo, people say i'm emo but i'm not, i used to have my lip pierced, but them i grew up and realized i was ruining my body so i took out all of my piercings. onision i have so much respect for you, you are a very wise person. your one of the small amount of people in the world with some common sence.

I apparently "look emo" but I'm not.I like wearing black, listening to rock and wearing thick pounds of eyeliner [from time to time] and drawing.I cut myself once to what the "BIG DEAL WAS" And it hurt like a bitch, why would ANYONE do that? Well the point is, Im not emo. Emo is just short for EMOTIONAL. And it used to be a form of music it was kinda like grunge but a little darker.For all the ignorant jer ffs emo isnt wanna be goth. Emo's are claimed to be Gothic wanna be's and Emo wanna be's.But Emo is also a genre of music and a growing process. If you ask a kid from a wealthy family who doesn't get alot of time with his or her parents, then thats where emo clique started. Thats ALSO where most of your cutters come from not ALL but mostTheres also the people who want attention that cutBut I may be completely off with emo thing but thats what I got from some people and some people from the internet. SO sorry if I'm off.

ya.. I wonder if emo kids realize when they are older that they wont remember half the reasons they were upset as a kid. Not to say they dont go through real trauma and pain. But cutting doesnt solve it..

(cont.) Cutting doesn't change anything. It just sweeps all those feeling and issues under the rug. It feel like they're gone and you can move on. But you don't. Your life will never move forward and nothing will ever change. Anyone struggling with this I know its a tough battle. But you have to keep in fighting. That my advice for anyone dealing with this.

I'm not emo but I am a recovering cutter. I'm 7 months free(yey). I'm not proud of my scars but they're there. And they're not going to go away. Now that I'm a pretty good distance away from that part of my life I see what some of my friends saw and why they where so scared for me. I realize now what I was doing wasn't helping me(even though it felt like I was). It was some quick fix so that I could ignore my feelings.

I only read a few posts but I agree that writing is a good counter option but unfortunately it is also part of the stereotype and mobbing based on it could again lead to cutting-vicious circle that's just an example though.I know that the sight of blood is calming, it is an immediate stop to the anger and depression, other people smoke or drink, but yes it is not worth the scars in the long run as onison said.emo is a scene culture, alot are attention seekers,cause might f.ex be divorce

I dont understand why people stereotype Emos as people who cut themselves, im not going to say that no-one does it but Emo means emotional, so if you are emotional and choose to call yourself such, your Emo, if you cut yourself your an idiot but Emo and cutting dont always have to intersect. So don't just look at an Emo and say "He/She cuts Himself/Herself" instead see that they're just people and can be good friends.

emo is not just another world for self pain.actually emo is a gerne of music and other forms of self expression.not a subculture.but the teens who take a part in this movement are stereotyped as alternative teens with no other word for them but emo.i like the style and art.but cutting is not a part of emo.cutting is a personality disorder.like a saddness disorder and since emo explores the darker emotions these disordered few join the stereotype.
