Elaine sang like talking the story. She has better control on the high note and lowest pitch over Susan. However, I like Susan's interpretation more because she has a longer breath control to connect the line of the melody, and her voice has more stable tone color at the middle pitch.

I'd never heard of Elaine Paige, so on Susan Boyle's recommendation I checked out this page. Susan's version on BGT is so much better. This is choppy and the scale is very forced unlike Susan's. Now, I appreciate Susan's voice that much more.

It's the poor sound quality that doesn't do Elaine Paige justice. Watch her in CATS singing Memory; she's just as good or better than Barbra Striesand. This recording was probably done on a cell phone or small camcorder; also the file was probably compressed.
