Actually a "Berliner" is a jam doughnut (ie one without a hole) which is extremely popular in the parts of Germany where Mr Kennedy was visiting, so Eddie is spot on. It has been a bit of a standing joke in Germany for YEARS with a Friesian comedian doing a routine with it as well. Not NEARLY as funny as Eddie though...
