I second both GordonMorrice and oriola26. It makes me feel not so alone in today's world of tinsel and money making Hollywood shallowness.

What a wonderful comment - how accurate you are - "Our age see art as silly and technology as God. " a faultless description of the age we live in.

The will towards creating serious, powerful and beautiful art never dies. It emerged 70,000 years ago in flame-illuminated caves and never abated. Where we have went wrong is turning art into commerce and falling into nihilism and forgetting what the great anceint civilisations discovered about the connexion between the natural world and the minds we experience everything with. For the Greeks, technology and art were bound up together. Our age see art as silly and technology as God.

The world of Visconti is over in this age of trash triumphant.

Today there is so much dross, the world of Visconti has almost gone and I mourn it's passing. He exuded class, elegance and knowledge, his films celebrated style, charm, and the arts.If only we could return to some of that.
