I salute you my friend. You are a U.S. Marine. You deserve my respect and have it. I thank God every morning that this country still has brave Marines fighting for me. God Bless you my friend and God speed. Your fighting force represents the greatness and goodness of America and this one lone man will never forget it! I thank you for your courage and dedication to our beloved country. My 1 year old son will know about the dedication of the U.S. Marines that fight for his preservation.

My friend, I thank you for your admirable service to my country. I am the son of a Viet nam veteran and love this song as well. I just thank God for our soldiers that have fought for my freedom. My dad is 61 years old and dying of cancer but is fighting it because he was a soldier. I respect so much my father and his peers that did their service to their country more than honorably. They are the Greatest Generation. They fought a war that nobody wanted to fight and did it proud! Thank you!

this song always makes me cry. I had a boyfriend in high school that was older. I knew he was in the army but we fell in love. He went to Afghanistan in 2003 the year i graduated. It's odd but I remember BEING in the marching band (piccolo/flute player!) and hearing the local soldiers who died. My boyfriend didn't die. But he came back with an injury and he wasnt the same. He ended up moving to a different city in our state and I never heard from him again. In a way, it was like he died to me.

why does every single dixie chicks video have to have the same comments? some agree with what they said (like me!) and some don't. that's just fine, but dont infect ALL of the videos with the same useless argument that what they said was wrong, especially when it was right on!

I am GLAD they said what they did! I think they were RIGHT! But I commented here to really praise them for this song! As a former soldier, it holds a lot of meaning to me. It reminds me of my friends who didn't make it. I hate Bush and hope he burns for his part in the current situation in Iraq. And on a more positive note: I love the Dixie Chicks, and I think this song is simply GREAT!!!

I mean them actually being from Texas and getting shit for making comments about some rich elitist born in Ct. is ironic no?.

and why is her opinion necessarily wrong? criticism of the US seems fairly widespread lately, and she is just a homegrown extension of that. disagreeing with war and death for no explicit gain hardly denotes a lack of patriotism. the second amendment doesn't defend the right to bear arms - it preserves the right to effectively criticize government.

who hasnt said something stupid once in their life. Some people need to stop judging them because of what they said. We all have a right to freedom of speech. I think their talent far outways any negative comments they have made. Afterall we are all intitled to our opinions and that was just theirs.
