the antlers weird growth is the natural way of helping the injury heal...the bone grows lighter on the side the injury is on and heavier on the other side to compensate for the weakness.

It's amazing this deer survived the winter. He'll probably end up a target of some prey animal and finally die within nature's curel ways. He'd be better off culled from the herd.

I am pretty sure it was quite an old injury, but he was also avery strong, determined deer. I think he had stayed alive for quite a while - over several years and re-grown antlers.

That's an old injury. You can tell by the rack growth on his right side, It's on the opposite side from the leg that he limps on. That's a typical sign of an injury. It could have been broken from a car collision or a bad shot placement from an earlier season. A good deer to remove from the heard.
