Child Prodigy......puke.....ofcourse it's great for a kid this age to play this good. But don't act like she is any better then any other person only because she can do something that most other people can't. It's because of those other people doing there avarage things that you can call her remarkable.

Thats exactly what I do, and Im 16, i just randomly walked up to my keyboard one day and played for my cousins, surprisingly it was good. So i taught myself to play, and i agree improv's are very important, you show your style thru them, and can make a classical piece your own.

Pretty good. improvisation can wait. First you should focus on every song you try too play. After you've listened so well the keyboards, and have the sounds in your memory, you should improvise (remember that chopin copied beethoven's moon light in fantaisie impromptu). There are also many more cases, but i have very few words to write left so, very well performed child, keep practicing cuz there are a lot of little talents!!! let's do this!

i was 16 when i learned how to play. i did not have lessons i had no previous musical backround, i just walked up to a piano one day and started playing improvisations. i didnt like classical music at the time now i love it. being a child and playing the piano means nothing if you dont try to create your own pieces these children should focus on improv.

in this case it's probably a very small difference between "prodigy" and being forced to play from very young age on...

"Writing with mastery" is exactly what it means. And that is, in literature, writing a unique work that can be considered mature and with clearly or subtly embedded meaning or purpose. In music that means the same thing and nothing to do with memorization.

@incenderarysaint- well... if u didnt notice.... she isnt reading any music... and not only has she learned how to read music.. but is capable of playing it, and memorizing it... which in your world could be considered as "writing with mastery"

I see this as a child who has learned how to read. That act in itself is not altogether unusual in the broad spectrum. Find a child that not only knows how to read but can also write with mastery and I will say that is a prodigy.

do u not think that this performance is "an extraordinary, marvelous, or unusual accomplishment, deed or event" or "'a highly talented child or youth" ?
