parrislee's fascination with this group is directly proportional to the woman singer's "body rhythm" and I know you get what I'm saying - lol

I just read where they will no longer call "Stomp!" a musical because there are no "instruments" being used.

my, aren't you the special one..? I think you overthought the washboard comment tainted by your own prejudice.

Granted you may not personally like it, but I don't think that is relevant to the discussion. The dictionary defines music as an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color. So if you don't want to consider the mouth or a washboard an instrument then I suppose we respectfully have nothing further to discuss and I would hope that you aren't a music teach or in charge of any art committees in your area.

Well, mountainmanjm, I consider anything creating a rhythm and harmony to be musical. I am a musician and quite frankly the origin of washboard instrumentation is not lost on me. Taping my foot is making music. Clapping my hands is making music. Throat singing is music. If it creates a sound then there is a pretty good chance that it is music, in my humble opinion.

actually parrislee I think it takes a hell of a lot more skill and talent to blow into a horn and make actual music, same with drums or a guitar. beatbox is not a musical instrument...do you think slapping on a washboard is playing a musical instrument..? just making a fun noise. get it?

Good stuff. @ God, I hate stupid people I guess that's like saying sax is like blowing/ spitting into a brass thing until noises come out. Big Whoop. Drumming is like beating on skins/ metal with sticks until it makes some noise. Guitar is like wacking your hands on strings until they make a noise. All "big whoop," right?Anyway, this is good stuff. Lot's of fun.

In case you don't know what "beatbox" is---he is blowing/spitting at the microphone to make drumlike sounds. big whoop
