I worked as a nurse in rehab and a nursing home, so I've cared for stroke patients. I'm not against treatment. Science is helpful, but at some point we will just not be able to PAY for this unbelieveable cost. That is my point as to why people need to take responsibility for diet and exercise. We have an obesity epidemic in this country.

Of course, but you can't necessarily prevent 100% of all strokes, no matter what you do. Why not advance both prevention and treatment? It's not like you can't do both.

jibbie actualy makes alot of sense people... these days we are all so reactive, and not proactive enough, trying to find a cure for this and that, rather than preventing it in the first place, but it is great that advances in medical science like this one are happening today

I recently had a stroke and the words they use in the diagnosis is Cardio-vascular ACCIDENT. Sure, we could all lead a more healthy life but some are more prone to the accident than others,

Oh DON'T blame Jibbie49 Ignorence is bliss for him.He implies that onlt Fat people have strokes.Wonder how he explains my friend Outsider who was as fit as 1 can be, yet at the age of 30 had a massive stroke and damn near died but today has to fight everyday just to have a glimps of a normal life?Jibbie49 You've got much to learn about life, I hope you never have to endure something like a stroke If you do I hope others are more sympatetic to your plight

Apparently Jibbie believes that strokes are the fault of the victim, like cancer - or heart disease? Jibbie49 is going to be sadly shocked when he is felled by a disease that only "fat lazy" people get.Hopefully he will have the compassionate care of someone far more sympathetic than he is, as opposed to people who berate him for not prtfprming superstitious exercises designed to inoculate him against illness.

Yes, following Jack LaLanne who will be 93 next month and who is in excellant health because he took care of his body. PREVENTION is much more sensible. Our fat, lazy Americans already think taking a pill from some doctor is going to do it all for them, which is not the case.

could you suggest some "real technique" for "preventing stroke in the first place"?

That's a brilliant comment. And for those who have already had a stroke, do you have something equally insightful?
