Right, I got what you meant. You're right, they did owe some of their successes with early songs to Big Mama. I meant, Janis gave her credit and also performed with her in San Fransisco once. I just didn't think Elvis mentioned his influences. Anyway, Peace to you, take care.

What I was trying to say was, Janis & Elvis recorded Big Mama songs. They also made hits of these recordings.

Your comments are correct, Janis loved Big Mama, she was a huge fan, and always gave her credit. I can't say the same for Elvis, although I like his music, he is no Big Mama or Janis for that matter when it comes to blues. As far as JLH, just legendary. Peace.

What a time, what a time, what a time. I consider myself a real blues fan, but I never have seen John Lee Hooker play the harmonica. These truly are some blues heavyweights on stage. Elvis Presley&Janis Joplin owe some of their success to recording Big Mama Thorton songs. Men seemed to receive more attention than the women in the blues. But Big Mama is one of the blues greats.
