if its in the bible, Christians believe in it. well, they are supposed to anyway, i cant think of a single christian i know who wants to stone my wife and children. the point i am trying to make is that religion, especially Christianity, is often vague or irrelevant. you cant apply much of this stuff to modern life without going to jail, and you cant apply it to government without cutting out half of it.

If sin didn't have consequences and punishment, it would inevitably affect the whole nation as it does today. Sin is destroying people all over the world. It has the same effect today as it did then. The only diffence today is that we are under a new covenant, and not the old.

The Jews didn't choose God, He chose them to accomplish His will, so He could send Jesus into the world in the form of a man and die as a substitute for our sins. In order to understand the Bible, you need to know the author, who is the Holy Spirit. He iluminates and brings everything into it's proper perspective and true meaning. Unless you are born again and spirit-filled the Bible will never make sense to you and will always seem contradictory.
