It's not revolutionary OnionRingofdoom, it's evolutionary coz roland and yamaha build that in the mid 80's ^^ but today the pickup it's more precise and much faster than the 80's model and for drumer it's exactly the same, simmons was the first with tama to make electronic drums but roland and yamaha can capture the rimshot with the new trigger and pad system. an another good system to make midi music is the EWI wind controler made by Akai also an 80's electronic instrument.

Graphtech and RMC make the "under-saddle" piezo systems. They tend to be better than the Hex-pickup type (Roland, Yamaha, Axon) as far as string isolation by a bit, though they're both very good. The real beauty of the piezo setup is the extra sounds you can get just from the piezo. If you don't want to make any modifications to your guitar, go with the hex type (they make ones you can install with out drilling now). But with the piezo, you don't have a big ugly block on the end of your guitar.

lol, he is indeed the worlds best axon player :)Graphtech. They have equipment to exchange your saddle parts with piezo ones. These give the best signal for the guitar-midi conversion
