jackie wilson didn't know what a 'glen' was. It's also apparent he didn't know what this song's about.

Do you understand the meaning of the word timeless? i dont think you do, the piano, in this scale carries a heavily dated weight, think before you spew shit on your computer

I'd much rather hang out with Woody Harralson than Andy Williams.

I disagree. Jackie Wilson does a very unique and very good interpretation, but not comparable as the two are done in very different styles. Jim Reeves and Jimmie Rodgers' versions are also very good. Check them out too.

When you watch this, you are seeing and hearing one of the greatest singers of all time, handling a timeless melody in a unique and truly beautiful way. Danny Boy is a wonderful song, sung many times by many singers. It's only right that there should be versions that set another standard - defining versions of true beauty, by singers whose talent can do proper justice to the greatness of the song. Andy Williams. What can you say. If they sing in Heaven, this is what it sounds like.

Whatever age you are, I can promise you you WILL feel the stirring of ancient memories of this loss just by clicking on Eva Cassidy to your left. You will never hear a finer version, and you will sense the deepest sadness of all who have sacrificed their love -- and their very lives -- to secure or preserve their freedom. Look up the fabled "third verse" to this song, and you will understand exactly why it has become a Celtic anthem... Cheers...

I grew up hearing it and thinking it pretty schmaltzy, but as the years have passed it has taken on so much more meaning and depth for me. When I hear it -- and sing it -- I think so strongly of so many millions of young men who have been called away from their homes, families and loved ones to fight mostly meaningless wars, and I reflect so strongly on how tragic the loss becomes just in the parting, not knowing if it will be forever.
