Fantastic! This makes me want to make a shoutout vid to all that led me to and encouraged me in vlogging!!After watching this, I'm more honoured than ever to have been included in a NumaNuma video by a stranger, to have known zipster and bnessell & so many others who could express or entertain less effectively-but just as instantly and bravely through this media.I studied theology and English Literature in university-I thought I'd like sociology-but they were way too basic. Anthropology FTW!

And in fact, you are correct when you say that a culture cannot exist without participation, if you're looking at it from the POV of an individual in a culture. However, the anthropological POV (in which Welsh is speaking) is something entirely different.

I could be wrong but I don't think Michael Welsh didn't say anything about "Participatory Digital Culture"...I believe he was talking about "Participant Observation" which is when anthropologist studying a culture by immersing themselves in it. Therefore it's not redundant.
