Thank you "sandhyasweety". I don't think I explained properly when I asked for the English Translation of the word "Paribhavam" Although, I am out of Kerala for a long period, my Malayalam is still pretty good. My problem (and many others like Tagore) was explaining to a person who does not know Malayalam some words and phrases. It was very kind of you to try to explain the word and I am taking this opportunity to thank you.

son is an indifferent letter writer, it is "Paribhavam". There are some elements to note :- (a) the person with whom she is confiding must be very close to her and perhaps to her son (b) If you lose your wallot, you may complain to police not "Paribhavam" (c) there is love, a wee bit of jealousy -against his wife (!), friends (who distract her son from becoming more diligent letter writer), there is some sadness, hope and optimism - well all these feelings are conveyed in one word "Paribhavam".

"Paribhavam" - is not just complaining! That was my point!! Each language has its "genius" and when it in any other language it looses it full and complete meaning! Tagore when translating "Geethanjali" to English, lamented that he couldn't do justice as he found it was impossible to find "exact" words to translate in English! And mind you , he was a great scholar in both English and Bengali!! Moreover, he was the "original" author! Suppose a loving mother tell one of her best friends that her

Can anybody suggest a correct translation of "Paribhavam" in English? I think "Paribhavam" is Kaithapram's favorite word which elude a simple deffinition! The lyrics are superb and MGR composed captivating music for it.
