I like Alix's song "Mary B." Does anyone know anything about who this Mary B is? Who was the song written about? It's so pretty, both the tune and the words.

If I may be so blunt, I believe the truer women's music in the vein most cherished, might exist, but it's still coming from the first and second waves of women musicians. I can't say this generation has produced much talent in the same vein. Though I'd love to hear from those who have.Oh, and Ferron? There will never be an artist to match her musicianship and lyrical powers. Therese Edell, too.Oh my God, the videos I could make, from the songs, here.

Smile - i bet we do ;) now really - i have no impression of what "women's music now" would mean to you - is there any i have missed? *s*I am still trying to get over the fact that I will never hear a song again that won't disappoint after coming to hear ferrons "misty mountain" here recently.. That's way enough reason to be thankful for women like you who keep those things up!

Thank you for the kind acknowledgments. Women's music "then" had a saving grace and power, I think, bigger than what's perceived as women's music "now."For me, anyway.

A.D.: Long, long ago, maybe even before you were born, way far back in the late 1950's. .. Philadelphia was a hotbed of do-it-yourself culture, magnetizing folk music on the East Coast. .. and I was a teenaged guitar-totin', card-carrying comrade grounding myself in mushrooming crowds of progressive Jews, self-taught musicians and other local subversives.. .

Hi, Rettsie. I'm glad you replied, because I was prepared for the possibility she might not approve of my gesture. I wouldn't mind at all, if you send Alix the link. I know I've been to her site, but I'm shy, all of a sudden. Can you do this for me? Especially since you are her friend?Meanwhile, I'll duplicate this message to you.
