@okee7You didn't see that Lalooji's Indian Railways has been having to compete against the fast growing low-cost airlines, and also with the rapidly expanding national motorway system, people now have more options to travel by land, either by long-distance express bus or even drive on their own. Still you're saying that Indian Railways face no competition?

That's truly credible what Laloo has done but who is he competing with? Air India has had to compete with the world's best along with fullfilling political obligations and have ignorant bureaucrats with no aviation industry experiance run the show. Add to the over staffing, poor customer service, bad fleet strength; how long will this last. As I see it will ultimately have the same fate of the erstwhile Centaur Hotels.

I think you are missing the point. If Indian railways which is the largest employer in the world can be turned into a profit making institution for the first time in its history and that to under the leadership of a guy like Laloo Parsad Yadav . How hard do you think it is going to be to do the same with AI? Nostalgia alone is without any value, but when it is coupled with the genius of human cognition and positive mindset it certainly helps in solving the problems much more easily.

Nostalgia without doubt. I admire your optimism; especially when you trust the govt. to revive something they screwed up and continue to do so. Talk about old school Nehruvian economic model of power to the babus and netas while stiffling business and encouraging incompetant people.

I will run AI into profit and will not charge the Govt any money. If Mr Praful Patel has the guts and the Indian people have the faith we can do it within no time. All we need to do is get the free loaders out of AI business and it will serve the people of the nation and the world.

Tata can make trucks which are 2 genarations old and sell it to a public which is ignorant. But gone are the days of JRD TATA Airlines.

Sir, call it the old school nostalgia. But I still have the faith in the Govt of India to revive AI to its lost glory. If they don't then let it be the new genaration Indians. No matter what AI should never be sold back to Tatas or anyone else.

I disagree; Air India will eventually perish or sold by the government in a few years. It was a world class airline when Tata made and ran it. In the 60's it had the worlds first all jet fleet and always rated amongst the top 5 airlines. Let the Tatas run it again and we can still pride on it being the national carrier.

Air India is an airline of the people of India and it should never be privatized. The Govt must make sure, that it pulls up Air India to the world standards soon...... Besides that, there are very few state owned airlines left in the world, they are the, " flying Ambassadors" of their representative nations, flying the nations colors and its culture all over the world. So like I said before that Air India should always be an airlines, owned and represented by the people of India.
