Having practiced Aikido, Judo and BJJ - in that order, I can say that no, resisting won't get you injured; Aikido just isn't really practiced with a lot of aliveness.Judoka practice far more 'dangerous' moves on a regular basis and most injuries occur when falling improperly, even in the middle of being thrown one can resist and sometimes counter without injury.Same with BJJ. There are several ways to escape submissions that won't result in injury.

Those guys aren't tiny, he's huge. Aikido doesn't resist once they know where the counter is going. Resisting will get you injured.

Looks real pretty; too bad Aikido randori doesn't seem to have a lot of resistance in regards to the opponents.

It is actually spelled "randori." The "a" just sounds like it should be an "o." Also, randori doesn't mean multiple attackers. Randori is free fighting...no kata and not sparring for points.

...than most. Trust me, they are making an effort but Seagal is that good. I'm not speaking against your perception of the rondori, but I can safely say, most of those attacks (especially the one on ones) are a real effort at putting a hole in someone.

Just to let you know, I train in aikido and the first thing we were taught as ukes was to really try to punch or kick nage. My sensei will emphasize actually punching as if you're trying to punch (through his stomach) his spine. They wanted that much power in the punches and kicks, and if you connected then that person needed to learn the most valuable technique in aikido: moving out of the way. In this video, they are going for Seagal's jugular ut he is fast and knows how to tenkan better...

Are you guys finished with this MMA vs Aikido bullshit? Aikido isn't a competition oriented martial, its oriented self defense and traditionnal japanese discipline...Geez guys...

what a fucking joke this video is. the so called "attackers" are barely making any effort at all to take segal down or wrap him up. i'm sure that segal is actually a highly trained badass in real life, but give me a break with this multiple attacker nonsense. this doesn't pass the laugh test.
