And to actually answer your question, what happened at Abu Ghraib was a PR nightmare, but was far from a moral failing of any kind. The appropriate response would have been to tell the international media, and all those who found it reprehensible, to go fuck themselves.Terrorists are unlawful combatants, entirely outside the protections afforded to them by any conventions the US is a party to. They can, and in my opinion should, be summarily shot after rigorous interrogation for information.
