I will tell you one major and quite disappointing setback to being 6'3 with long arms: Increasing your bench

Say i'm 145 lb, and 16 years of age, junior, and can becnh 230 for one rep, how long do you think it would take with hard work, right protein and correct way of training before i'm able to bench 285 for 5 reps??? a year? 9 months?

RichieHK14, Eat peanut butter to pack some Wt. on and whey isolate protein after workouts. At 17 I know it is difficult to make big gains quickly but hard work and dedication is everything. I recommend working out on bench day on a smith machine with just the bar until fifty or failure. Keep this in your chest routine as a first set for 8 weeks and see if you are moving up! wedge

fezsez, Try just the 45lb. bar for high reps without stopping ( 50 reps ). Begin this as your first set on chest day and do your regular routine as usual.Keep this routine for 8 weeks. Let me know if you can complete 50 reps or what # you fail on on this first set. Also, you can use smith machine for this program. Thanks for the post. wedge

Everyones training regimin is different right? I don't train tri's on a chest day just like you may not...I was just simply saying that the reps he were recording aren't wrong

Bench is not just a trainingmethod for chest, why not train triceps at the same time?It would be foolish to only do 80% of a movement, do it full range, its harder, and therefore more effective.

this is insane, wedge.today i officially got 225 for the first time and it was one of the best moments in my lifting career, but this shames me.great job

These are correct reps...if you bring your bar down to your chest then proceed to bring it to an almost lockout position your actually doing chest AND triceps...in this video he's doing chest only, therefore making these reps 100% countable

Practise your form, making sure its good and keep benching what you bench. If your form is not good than you will not get the best results. Just keep working at it.

if your stuck at any weight you can do less reps of a higher weight for a week or so and it will help you get pass it
