For what you get, they are about 50% overpriced. Those are professional riders handling those pigs offroad. If you think that you are buying $16k worth of bike, you will need some koolaid to go with that bratwurst.

Very unreliable model. The previous model (GS1150) is far superior.

Im looking into getting one of these once I trade in my gsxf katana, 600 is a little small for both in comfort and engine size. I'm good friends with the bmw dealers in my area, and so was my dad so thats another reason im looking into getting a beamer, aside from that their just great bikes.

I agree that the GS adventure bikes are heavy, and powerless - nothing wrong with that, and to be honest, that's why i like them. There're lighter and lass power bikes that you can get and make your dream come true. This is different bike and it's not a off road bike! Both KTM and BMW are good bikes, there're just different

BMW GS - too heavy, powerless, expensive parts, bad for off road...I hed a GS 1200adv '06, now i hed KTM... KTM is much better bike...

The disadvantage is fuel 22lt & from memory 33lt on the Adventure. I'm trying to find out if they will fit a lower seat on the Adventure.

I'm 5'7" & I am looking at the standard 1200GS with the lower seat. I have ridden one & can touch the ground with both feet. You can also get all the gear that the Adventure has only the groud clearence is slightly less. You can also get lowered suspension but I would avoid that & just go with the lower seat. I currently ride a 400kg GL1500 Goldwing so I'm used to riding heavy bikes. Get your self booked on a test ride the only way to find out for yourself.

It doesn't really matter what your total height is, rather how long your legs are. There are some tall guys with short legs and likewise some short guys with longer legs. You just going to have to sit on one to find out for sure.
